Summer Sled Dog Adventure

Summer Sled Dog Adventure

Two tours in one…too much fun! This Alaskan experience starts with an 8 mile scenic mountain ride up the historical Iditarod trail in an open air 6×6 Pinzgauer. Your guide will share the rich history of the area. Stunning views and 7000’ mountain peaks surround you. At this elevation the mountains open up to one of the most scenic landscapes in the valley.

Upon arriving at Girdwood Mushing Company’s kennel you will meet Iditarod musher, Nick Petit and his 4 legged athletes. Hear Nick’s Iditarod stories, observe dog handling techniques and interact with the dogs that ran 1,049 miles from Anchorage to Nome. Experience the excitement and energy of these athletes as Nick hooks them up for your sled cart ride. Feel the strength and energy the dogs have for pulling and running as they take you on a thrilling ride. The sled dogs respond to Nick’s commands as a whole, moving and navigating as if they are of one mind. It’s a sight to see and an experience you will never forget.

After your thrilling dog cart ride, visit the Puppy Pavilion. This is your chance to cuddle and play with future Iditaraod puppies. Pose for photos with the puppies, Iditarod trophies, dog sleds & gear.
